The hunky actor — grandson of ?Honeymooners? star Jackie Gleason — has a major role in the big budget movie, which opens across the country this week. He plays Lone Star State hero James Bowie, who died in battle alongside Davy Crockett (played by Billy Bob Thornton) and Sam Houston (played by Dennis Quaid). But even though he?s playing one of their favorite sons, folks in Texas apparently don?t cotton to misbehaving Hollywood types.
According to the entertainment Web site www.ananova.com, cops in the town of Travis, Texas, found Patric loitering with a group of people in the early hours one morning. He refused their requests to move on, and shoved an officer who tried to arrest him. Not surprisingly, Patric was soon subdued and found himself cooling his heels in the county jail for five hours before he was released.
Through his publicist, Patric denied that he did anything wrong and insists that he was not drunk.
?He hopes for a rapid resolution to clear his name,? said his spokeswoman.
