Golden Bridges Honoree: Bridget Shaheen

She is a graduate of Merrimack College and holds an Honorary Doctorate of Humane Letters from St. Anselm’s College. She is the recipient of numerous awards and citations, including: Christ the Servant Award, Lazarus House, Inc. (1985), Women in Cable and Telecommunications (1996), Quota International’s Nina Scarito Award (1997), First Essex Bank Community Service Award (1998), Merrimack Valley Chamber of Commerce Award (1999), Clipper Ship Boy Scouts Council Distinguished Citizen Award (1999), TWIN Honoree YWCA of Greater Lawrence (2000), Tikkum Olam Award for Peace and Justice – Merrimack College (2000), Heroes Among Us – Boston Celtics (2002), Eagle Tribune “Great People Make Great Places” (2002), Paul Tsongas Award for Community Service (2003), Lawrence Bar Association Citizen of the Year Award, (2005).
Shaheen and her husband Paul have three children and three grandchildren. Her volunteer work includes Prison Ministry (20 years), Cursillo Community (30 Years) and she traveled to Gulfport Mississippi in help out in the aftermath of Hurricane Katrina. She has also served on several community organization Boards of Directors including the Mary Immaculate Health Care Services, Lawrence, the German Home of Lawrence, MA, Project Bread Advisory Board, Boston, the Lawrence Hunger Round Table and the City of Lawrence Continuum of Care Board and the Beverly School in Kenya.
