Paul McGinley’s road to Morocco hit a speed bump in the second round of the Moroccan Open at the Dar-es-Salam Red Course in Rabat. After an opening-round 67, McGinley stumbled on Friday, shooting 75. He closed with rounds of 70 and 72 to finish in an eighth-place tie at eight-under-par 284.
The medalist was Ian Poulter, who hung up 277 on the leaderboard.
Philip Walton played well enough to make the cut, opening with consecutive rounds of 71. The earth shook beneath his feet a bit on Saturday, when he carded 75, and then he had the carpet entirely pulled out from beneath him on Sunday, when he shot 79 to finish at 296. That number was good for a 70th place tie.
