John Kernohan shot four rounds of sub-70 golf to tie for eighth place in the Omaha Classic on the Buy.com Tour. His final 14-under-par 274 consisted of rounds of 69, 68, 68 and 69. He was six shots behind David Berganio and Ahmad Bateman, who topped the leaderboard after 72 holes, with Berganio winning the playoff. Kernohan earned $13,500.
European Tour
A 23rd-place tie was the best that Darren Clarke could muster in the Volvo Scandinavian Masters at Kungsangen in Stockholm, Sweden. A third-round 74 sealed his fate. He shot four-under-par 280 for the event (69-66-74-71), 10 strokes back of medalist Lee Westwood.
Des Smyth’s 287 (73-70-69-75) earned a share of 52nd place. Gary Murphy tied
for 61st place at 290 (72-68-75-75).
