The Guinness Import company has teamed up for the second year running with the GAA North American County Board to sponsor the 1998 Guinness North American GAA Championships.

This year’s championships will take place in four cities across the country, including Boston, Chicago, Philadelphia and San Francisco.

The competition will run throughout the summer and will conclude with the Guinness North American Championship Playoffs on Labor Day weekend in Washington, D.C.

Throughout the 1998 games, a Guinness Player of the Week will be selected in each of the four cities. At the conclusion of the season, the NACB will select the season’s most valuable player from the previous players of the week in each city. The winner will then receive two round-trip tickets to the All-Ireland Football or Hurling championship finals in Dublin.

“The Guinness North America GAA Championships is a natural sponsorship for us here in the United States as it marries a great Irish sporting tradition with one of Ireland’s most treasured brands, Guinness,” said Howard Pulchin, the director of corporate communications for Guinness.

Comprising 12 divisional boards in 20 U.S. cities, the GAA of North America currently has a total of 85 adult clubs from across the country. It has been governed by the NACB since it was formed in 1959.
