In doing so, we are again reminded of the immense geographical size, and historical scope, behind the dramatic story that is Irish America.
It’s a tale that has been played out over the past several hundred years. And in Texas we have had one heck of an Irish story indeed.
But of course the Irish American story does not begin and end with a lone state, even one as immense and influential as Texas.
In last week’s issue we touched on an Irish story that has resonated to this day in southern Missouri. In the weeks ahead, we will be looking at Irish American events and festivals in a number of states.
But this week it’s the turn of Texas, a place where the Irish have made their inimitable mark in an epic tale that is as big and brash as the Lone Star State itself.
