Emmy award-winning newscaster Magee Hickey is joining "Christopher Closeup," the nationally syndicated weekly public affairs program, as guest host and correspondent.

A veteran of 15 years covering local news in New York, Hickey won an Emmy in 1992 for her investigative report on problems in New York City’s Emergency Medical Service. During 10 years at WNBC-TV, she was the first anchor of the station’s long-running "Weekend Today" in New York. She has also worked as an anchor and reporter at the CBS and ABC affiliate stations in New York. She currently produces and reports on "SheTV," a daily program on women’s health that airs on the Discovery Health channel.

Hickey debuts on "Christopher Closeup" the week of Dec. 3, when she discusses her career as a television journalist with Msgr. Tom McSweeney, former director of The Christophers, who has hosted the program for four years.

Her first program as "Christopher Closeup" host will air the following week when she interviews Richard Carlson, author of the

bestselling book "Don’t Sweat the Small Stuff for Teens."

"We are indeed fortunate to have Magee joining Christopher Closeup," said Gerald M. Costello, president and administrator of The Christophers. "Her background as a journalist, along with her versatility and her thought-provoking interview style, are perfectly suited for the program, which focuses on people who are making good things happen."
