The committee’s task is to review and recommend recordings submitted from 2002 that will be voted on later by AFIM’s national membership.
A writer for the Irish Echo since 1991, Earle Hitchner is also a contributor to The Wall Street Journal and has written on music for Billboard, MTV’s Sonicnet, Reader’s Digest, Details, The Oxford American, New Choices, and many other publications. Among the more than 50 recordings for which he’s written liner notes is the Boston Pops Orchestra’s “The Celtic Album,” nominated for a Grammy award in 1998. In addition, Hitchner has lectured on music and music journalism at Boston
College, Milwaukee Irish Fest, the Bardavon 1869 Opera House in Poughkeepsie, N.Y., and the NEMO Music Showcase and Conference in Boston.
Founded in 1972, the Association for Independent Music is the premier organization for independent record labels, distributors, and suppliers in the United States. AFIM’s awards ceremony will take place during March 16-19 in Orlando, Fla.
