Hot Gigs ‘Father Ted’ on WLIW

February 16, 2011

By Staff Reporter

Take three eccentric priests and one loopy housekeeper, throw them on a remote island off the coast of Ireland, add the rallying cry "Feck! Drink! Girls!" and what do you have? "Father Ted," of course.

The hilarious British TVseries, which starred comedian Ardal O’Hablon and the late Dermot Morgan, will start airing on WLIW-21, on Friday, July 6, at 9:30 p.m. Get the VCRs ready.

Speaking of WLIW-21, they’ve got a treat in store for Ballykissangel fans (aside from the fact that the increasingly dull show is in its final season). In September, the channel will air a drama/mystery series starring BallyK’s former supercouple, Dervla Kirwan and Stephen Tompkinson. In "Shades" the two actors play a mismatched couple of spirits (yes, spirits) who try to right the wrongs of the life they left behind. We’ll have more details for you in the future.

Irish artist Eamonn O’Doherty will exhibit a selection of his sculpture, drawings and maquettes at the Irish Arts Center , 553 W.51st Street, New York, NY 10019 (between 10th and 11th Avenues) June 28 throug- July 26. The exhibition opens June 28 at 6 p.m. For information, call (212) 757-3318.
