An evening of traditional Irish music has been planned for Sunday, Feb. 6, in Somerville, Mass., to benefit Noel Brady, a County Monaghan native who was badly hurt during a Gaelic Football match last summer.
Brady, who is 29 married and has three children, lost his left eye and suffered multiple fractures on his cheekbone. Before his accident, he was employed as a meat boner. He has been unable to work since his injury.
The event will be held from 5-9 p.m. at the private bar/lounge at 7 Hawthorne St., Somerville, where the "Riverdance" members made their unofficial home last November and the young Gaelic footballers from St. Patrick’s College, Armagh made their base last August.
Aidan Maher and friends from Quincy, Jimmy Noonan, Helena Delaney and friends from the Burren, together with the Cooney sisters have all volunteered to give their services. Some video snippets from local GAA matches in Dilboy/Canton will also be shown on a large screen. A contribution of $20 is suggested and complimentary draught Guinness and beer courtesy of Phoenix Landing/Tua Nua and the Burren will be provided.
Directions: Pass the Burren Pub, take the second left , onto Cutter Avenue. The first right is Hawthorne Street.
Details, call Brendan at 776-9467 or Kevin Joey or Patsy in the Phoenix Landing/Tua Nua or the Burren.
