Hudson to give Rockys reading

February 16, 2011

By Staff Reporter

The University of Nebraska Press publishes Hudsons work this month. The novel was written in the wake of World War II while Celine was being held in jail in Denmark pending extradition to France, where he was sought as a traitor because of a series of anti-Semitic pamphlets he wrote in the 1930s. Celine, regarded along with Joyce as one of the greatest novelists of the 20th century, remains a deeply controversial figure. In her introduction she compares him to Jonathan Swift as a satirist of genius.
