Recent debate in Ireland has asked whether there are corporations in the world that make more money than Ireland generates as an independent state.
A UN Conference on Trade and Development, ranking countries and companies by Gross Domestic Product and “value added,” the sum of pre-tax profits, salaries, amortization and depreciation, found that no corporation beats Ireland.
Closest is ExxonMobil Corp at _41 billion, but Ireland, in 39th place, collectively generates a GDP of _61.8 billion, ahead of New Zealand, in 50th with a GDP of _33.2, and the Czech Republic, in 51st with a GDP of _33.2 billion.
At the top of the list in first position is the U.S., followed by Japan, Germany and the UK Volkswagen generates more money than Cuba.
