Their flight from Ireland had arrived early at Newark and they faced a nine-hour delay. They had heard there had been cancellations and Tracy Dargan was anxious not to miss work the next day. So the women opted for the earlier flight.
“It’s just really sad and you feel so lucky to be alive,” Dargan told local TV station WIVB. Dargan.
Heneghan said, “It’s just you go through all those things like what would have been the last thing I would have said to my mother, you know — all those different things that go through your head, and I’m just so grateful that we weren’t on that plane.”
According to some media outlets, ground staff advised adults who were traveling with small children not to fly on 3407 because conditions were expected to be very turbulent.
