Irish inflation still on the rise

DUBLIN – Increases in the price of food and drink are the main items that led to the fifth consecutive monthly increase in inflation, with the consumer price index up by 0.5 percent in June, bringing the annual rate to 2.9 percent.

Ireland’s inflation is now more than double the average rate in the other 11 states taking part in the EMU and the highest it has been since August 1992.
