But that might have been a decoy.
Reports in Irish newspapers have suggested that the final destination for the letter is a wealthy collector in the U.S. with a strong interest in Irish history.
“The huge price has led to well-informed speculation that the buyer is a rich Irish American with a deep interest in republican history,” the Sunday Independent reported.
