Kenny, Perry prevail

Kenny was pushed hard by Derek Ryan as he claimed his second title in three years. However, Ryan’s two-season absence from the professional circuit told against him in the end and lost out by three sets to one. Australian born Kenny had an easy victory in the semifinals, defeating Niall Rooney in straight sets.
Perry, who is ranked 17th in the world, swept past the challenge of Aisling Blake by 9-0, 9-1, 9-1 to secure her seventh national title. Earlier, the 27-year-old from Banbridge, Co. Down, had only dropped two points in her semifinal win over Laura Mylotte.
