Kerry 1-12, Na Fianna 2-7
The Kingdom continued on their winning ways at the weekend with summer import Roisin Grogan kicking four very valuable points to push her side over the finish line in front. Claire Tracey, Grogan and Maureen O’Driscoll all hit the target for the Munster women who played some lovely attacking football at times. Paudie Mulvihill took note of their 20 wides in the Peter Connaughton Final and the Munster girls were much sharper on this occasion. Na Fianna never stopped working and Mag Fitzgerald and Ciara Ferry kept their hopes alive with some good scores. Kerry’s overall fitness and match practice proved crucial in the final quarter and when the opportunities arose to pull ahead they pounced for victory. Ciara Ferry had two great chances to goal before the final whistle but her goal bound shots were smothered on both occasions.
Kerry: Rosin Grogan 0-4, Tracey Rice 0-3, Claire Tracy 1-1, Mags Dineen 0-2, Maureen O’Driscoll and Karen Grady 0-1 each.
Na Fianna: Ciara Ferry 1-2, Mags Fitzgerald 1-3, Helena Campion and Mary Shorthall 0-1 each.
Rockland 2-7, Monaghan 2-6

A few months is a long time in Ladies GAA and what a difference it has made for Rockland LGAA. Beaten off the field earlier in the season the Rockies have kept their power dry for the championship. They deserve great credit. On Sunday they entertained Monaghan for the second Sunday in a row and to beat the Farney women twice will be talked about in Pearl River for some time. While the game itself was riddled with mistakes it was full of passion and pride. Rockland have Jenny Kirby and Joanne Foley to thank for this victory and if it wasn’t for some atrocious shooting from the Monaghan attack the outcome could have been different. Leading 0-3 to 0-2 at the interval, Rockland held on for the slimmest of victories that will be talked about for some time. Can the home side now compete with kingpins Cavan next weekend? That’s the real test of character.
Rockland: Joanne Foley 2-1, Jenny Kirby 0-4, Cathy Dunleavy 0-2.
Monaghan: Catherine O’Donoghue 1-3, Norma McCarthy 0-2, Sandra Swinburne and Anita McKenna 0-1 each.
