King in, out – and in again?

King had indicated that he would run but last September signaled that he was out of the 2010 race. Now, according to a report in the Capitol Hill daily paper, The Hill, King is reconsidering his decision not to run for the Senate in November.
King, a co-chair of the congressional Ad Hoc Committee for Irish Affairs, said on the “Imus in the Morning” radio show that he was now considering a run.
“I am looking at it. A lot of people have come to me,” King said.
“It’s a great experience being in the House. Being the top Republican on the Homeland Security Committee, I’ve been in a position to get a lot done for the city and the state. But I am looking at the statewide race,” he said.
King reckons that he would have to raise a sum between $30 million and $40 million to mount a meaningful Senate challenge. His Senate ambitions are likely being fueled the probability that redistricting could end up eliminating his Long Island House district.
