Late goal helps Lansdowne women draw with Harps

Lansdowne scored with two minutes left to salvage a draw in this was a top-of-the-table clash.

It was a fast flowing game with both defenses playing solid. On 15 minutes, Harps won a free taken by Hillary Potkewitz. Pauline Dillon was there to flick it in. Lansdowne came back with a Harps ball from Stephanie Bliss to Nora McGrail, who took a shot from 25 yards that was well saved by Chris Gallagher.

In the second half, leading 1-0, Harps had chances from Sandra Swinburne, Karen Shalvey, Alyson Kaye. Lansdowne had shots from Bernie Boyle, Sarah Pierre.

It was looking like a Harps win with less than two minutes left when Lansdowne’s Sarah Pierre took a free kick from 25 years that trickled off the keeper’s fingers.

Parlour Moms’ last game of the season ended in defeat as Ned Devine’s took control on Mags Fitzgerald’s goal after just six minutes.

Parlour Moms came close with a shot from Karen Rice. Ned Devine’s went forward when a ball crossed in by Maire Curran was met by the head of Mags Fitzgerald to make it 2-0.

In the second half, Parlour Moms went close when shots by Wendy Hollender and Lisa Moore were well saved. On 50 minutes, a ball by Michelle Simon reached Ann Ryan, who scored the third goal.

Best for Ned Devine’s: Mags Fitzgerald, Mags Ryan, Erin Treacy.

Best for Parlour Moms: Wendy Hollender, Lisa Moore.

Beal Bocht 3, Fagan’s 1

Beal Bocht got their second win of the league. On 10 minutes, Beal Bocht went with a ball from Mary Touhy to Andrea Fry, who turned the defense and scored, giving Beal Bocht a 1-0 lead. Fagan’s rallied to tie on a rocket shot from Ann Murray that the keeper couldn’t control.

On 25 minutes, Beal Bocht went ahead with another goal from Fry and took a 2-1 lead into halftime.

The second half, was tight, with both defenses playing well. On 55 minutes, Beal Bocht won a penalty that made the score 3-0.

Best for Beal Bocht: Andrea Fry, Mary McRory, Pauline Boylan.

Best for Fagan’s: Monica Slevin, Justine Clifford, Ann Murray.

Sean Ogs 2, Velocity 0

A last-minute goal cemented the victory for Sean Ogs in the last games of the season for both teams.

Sean Ogs had chances from Catherine Donohue, Mary Nash and Olivia Murphy. Velocity had chances from Karen Murphy, and Regina Nejman.

With both defenses dominating, the game seemed headed for a draw, but a ball from Claire McMahon reached Teresa Doyle, who slipped by the defense and put the ball into the net, making it 1-0.

Best for Sean Ogs: Teresa Doyle, Olivia Murphy, Elaine McMahon.

Best for Velocity: Nancy Blaine, Resa Usdin, Karen Murphy.

Saturday, Nov. 17

10 a.m., Lansdowne vs. Ned Devine’s; 11:30 a.m., Harps vs. Fagan’s.
