Donegal 5-12, Fermanagh 0-1
The Donegal women are a team to watch and may yet prove to be the dark horses of the summer. Several imports and a quality home base have the Ulster girls looking good for a semifinal berth. Ann Marie McMunn, Fiona Devenney and Caroline Kelly were outstanding midweek against the Erne girls and when they hit the net in the opening minutes, they never looked back. Fermanagh deserved credit for trying, but they were way off the pace in this one-sided encounter played at Van Cortlandt Park.
Donegal were unstoppable in the opening half, and with Marie Cassells, and Devenney hitting exquisite points, they overwhelmed lackluster Fermanagh. The second half introduction of five Donegal substitutes, including Gorkahork native Mairead Mulhern, further bolstered their attack and the onslaught continued until the final whistle.
