Liam gets his mojo working

We never thought our fingers would type this sentence, but here goes: Irish actor Liam Neeson could take a few lessons from international man of mystery, Austin Powers. The Irish actor, who’s currently nominated for his performance in the Broadway revival of “The Crucible,” says that he finds it a challenge to get his “mojo” working on a daily basis.

Neeson told the Associated Press that the elusive mojo marks the difference between movie and stage acting.

“In theater, you have to get your mojo up once a night, twice on matinee days,” he growled. “For films, you have to get your mojo up 10, 12 times a day.” Yeah, baby!

But behave, you randy articles. Liam’s talking about stage craft, focus, the fourth wall, the muse and all that stuff. We think. Though we’re not quite sure what mojo actually is, or where it’s kept, Liam considers it a major building block of thespian success.

“When you do [get your mojo working on film] it’s only for a few minutes,” he said. “Then you go and relax again for 45 minutes. It’s a different animal entirely.” A big, talented animal, baby, yeah!, as Austin might say.

If the man in your life is looking just a tad dejected this week, it’s probably because he’s sensed, through the guy gossip network – which consists mostly of grunts, burps and the occasional words of advice shouted at the TV during pivotal sports moments – that another one of those pretty Corrs girls has been taken off the market. Yes, it’s true: Caroline Corr, the band’s percussionist, has had the question popped at her by longtime beau, Frank Woods. And the 29-year-old drummer has drummed it into his head that she’ll do it. Ba-dum-dum.

According to the band’s official website, the bride-to-be and the Dublin-based property developer have been dating for quite some time. So it couldn’t have been much of a shock when he got down on one knee and asked her to sell exclusive snaps to OK! Magazine with him.

Oh, only kidding. We hear that Caroline will follow in the steps of her recently married sister (and bandmate) Sharon, and have a normal, take-my-picture type of wedding. Now, if only we could suss out the date, but the website insists that the happy couple have yet to choose one. Watch this space for more news.

Morleigh gets The Edge (finally)

After meeting cute on the set of U2’s “Mysterious Ways” video — back in the days when Bono was more concerned with getting enough baby powder between himself and his pvc suit than with saving the world — U2 guitarist The Edge and his belly-dancing babe, Morleigh, have decided to tie the knot.

The couple, who’ve lived together since the mid-’90s and who have two children, plan to exchange “I dos” in the South of France a couple of weeks from now.

The guest list is said to be small and exclusive, including family and a select group of celebrity pals, such as the members of U2 and REM, as well as former supermodel Christy Turlington. And, in case you’re there and tempted to try catching the bouquet, be warned: Christy and actor Ed Burns have called off their long-postponed wedding and have gone their separate ways. So we’d watch out for tall, skinny girls with sharp elbows if we were you.

Belles’ hellfire

Nobody will confirm this yet, but rumors are circulating that Louis Walsh’s new Irish girl band, Bellefire, has been dropped from their record label.

Neither Walsh nor Virgin Records will confirm the reports that the group has been cut loose. The band recently earned a place on the British pop charts with their cover of the U2 classic, “All I Want is You,” which peaked at No. 15.

Record company or not, the girls have announced that they will appear at the London Fleadh next month, alongside the Pogues, Paul Brady and Mary Coughlan. Stay tuned.
