Limerick Leader sold?

February 16, 2011

By Staff Reporter

Media group Scottish Radio Holdings is reportedly close to sealing a deal to buy the Limerick Leader Group for euro 50 million.

SRH already owns the Kilkenny People, Today FM and the Longford Leader.

The Limerick Leader group has a weekly circulation of in excess of 50,000 generated by five newspapers, while it also has a profitable printing business. It is understood to have annual profits of about euro 1.5m. Three families own the group: the Buckleys, the McAuliffes and the Wrights.

If the deal goes through, SRH will become the largest regional media player in the country, eclipsing Independent News & Media’s regional circulation.
