That is not the case today, as established cities like New York and growing areas like Orlando have been enticing Irish buyers with the leverage of the almighty euro on their side.
New York, notoriously one of the most expensive cities in the world, is as close to a steal as it has ever been, and its bright lights are drawing many Irish toward its ever-valuing real estate market.
Ed Dempsey, a residential sales manager with Wyse Real Estate Group in Dublin, has been following the trend firsthand.
Wyse teamed up with New York’s Corcoran Group, one of New York’s biggest realtors, to sell units in The Orion, a newly constructed glass-encased high rise on West 42nd Street.
“There has been huge demand,” said Dempsey. “Both for investors looking to make some capital appreciation, as well as people looking for a pad in New York.”
Dempsey said that Wyse contacted Corcoran after hearing a number of requests from Irish buyers looking for property abroad.
The value is even clearer with when talking prices in the hundreds of thousands. Apartments in the Orion are starting at $485,000, which translates to a mere
