Lufthansa to buy Shannon Aerospace

February 16, 2011

By Staff Reporter

Shannon Aerospace is an aircraft maintenance company operated by Lufthansa Technik and SR Technics, formerly owned by the collapsed airline Swissair.
Bernd Habbel of Lufthansa Technik said: “I know that we are in talks about that and that we are interested but as far as I know the talks are still ongoing.”
Shannon Aerospace employs 850 people and suffered a difficult year after Sept. 11, 2001.
With revenues of euro 63.76 million, the company made a profit of only euro 848,000 for the year to date.
Swissair itself collapsed as a result of the Sept. 11th terrorist attacks.
Shannon Aerospace carries out maintenance checks on Airbus A320 and McDonnell Douglas aircraft and Boeing 737, 757 and 767 carriers.
