The Detroit native is blushing red, white and blue these days over an embarrassing gaffe in her new video, in which the Irish flag is shown the wrong way around.
In the revamped video for her single “American Life,” the Material Girl is shown singing the song while dozens of national flags flash behind her. Everything’s fine until the Irish tricolor hits the screen reversed, with the orange panel on the left and the green one on the right.
Interestingly, Madonna — or, more specifically, her graphic designers — had no trouble with tricolors from other countries — France’s red, white and blue was right side around, as was Italy’s red, white and green. We hope she gets it right before her next Irish show, or she’ll be wondering why all the people in the audience are telling her she’s number one.
