She will speak in Philadelphia, Pa., at Villanova University’s commencement on May 22nd and will be conferred with an honorary degree. A roundtable discussion is also planned.
It is then off to America’s epicenter for coffee and computers. McAleese will visit Seattle, Wash., along with representatives of over 30 Irish businesses.
She will have a window into the work of young Irish employees at Microsoft’s corporate headquarters as well as make a major foreign policy address at the World Affairs Council meeting at Washington University.
Several significant trade and investment deals between Irish and U.S. firms are expected to be announced as a result of the trip.
Her week ends with a trip to Vancouver, British Columbia. She will tour scenic Victoria Island and meet with Canadian government officials and present the Irish Woman of the Year Award before flying back to Dublin.
