Frank McCourt was at home in Manhattan after suffering what his brother, Malachy, described as a “seizure” which occurred while on a cruise off Tahiti in the South Pacific.
McCourt dismissed a report that his brother, the author of “Angela’s Ashes,” was facing a life threatening medical condition as being “greatly exaggerated.”
What was not exaggerated was Malachy McCourt’s own current medical condition.
Malachy was laid up in the Helen Hayes Hospital in Rockland County after breaking his leg in Vermont.
“I slipped on water on the bathroom floor in a hotel room and broke it in three places,” he told the Echo.
McCourt, an actor as well as an author, said he had been appearing in a play in Vermont.
“Somebody sent me a note suggesting I break a leg. So I did,” he said.
