Minor Board Roundup Mangan heroics salvage draw for Rockland

Celtics 2-3, Rockland 2-3

Rockland overcame a 4-point deficit to gain a draw as the New York GAA Minor Board’s fall season kicked off on Saturday. The game was nearing a close when Nick Mangan scored a goal and the leveling point. This game was played at a breathtaking pace. Other players of note for Rockland were Emmet Woods, Chris Fitzpatrick, John White and Conor Whelan.

Celtics’ outstanding players were Daniel Tierney, T.J. Molloy, Kieran Patton, Chris McSweeney and Alison Traynor.

U-12

Celtics 4-7, Rockland 0-1

Celtics ran rampant, displaying fine teamwork and passing. Excelling for the victors were Brian Slattery, Doug Sheehan, Mike Dormer, Ciara McArdle and Conor McKeon. Rockland players who battled bravely were Terence Moore, Pat Geeney, Stephen Spellman, Michael Geraghty and Glen Roche.

U-14

Rockland 1-15, Celtics 0-4

Rockland’s passing movements and point kicking were difficult to stop. At no time did the Celtics give in to their opponents and in the second half they tried valiantly to overcome a large halftime deficit. Rockland’s best were Greg Loftus, Ray Bader, Billy Cosgrove, Brian Meaney and Declan Neville. Celtics best were Gary McGurk, Ed Sheeran, John McArdle, Anthony Goodwin and Brian Donohoe.

U-16

St. Barnabas 1-11, Rockland 1-0

St. Barnabas took advantage of their superior ball possession. Their best players were Damian Meaney, Ciaran Moyles, Billy Donoghue, Kevin Callaghan and Adrian Clarke. Rockland players who played well were Jeff Garrett, Shane Hogan, Mark Lennon, Kevin Regan and Tom Foley.
