In the under-10 match, The St. Raymond’s U-10 team outdueled Rangers 4-3 to 0-2 Saturday in Rockland. The East Bronx team started out slowly, but once they settled down, it was evident that they would have enough firepower to overcome any threat the Rangers threw at them. Players of the Match were Sean Slattery of St.Raymond’s and Garvin O’Shea of Rangers. Also excelling for St. Ray’s were Seamus Lawton, Neil McDonald, Conor Bowden and Pat Moulton. Best for Rangers were Denis Collins, keeper Phil Kennedy, Sean Reynolds and Brian Twomey.
In under-12 action, the tables were reversed as a rampant Rangers squad defeated St. Raymond’s 5-8 to 1-2. The victors displayed deft football tactics for such a young outfit.They moved the ball with much fluidity and took their scores with a grace not seen often enough at any age level of Gaelic football. Outstanding for the Rangers were Brendan Cullinan, Denis McGoldrick, Sean Twomey and Colm Flynn. St. Raymond’s stars were Tom Enright, Ciaran Slattery, Padraig O’Connor and Stephen Lawless. Players of the match were Rangers’ Ronan McGoldrick and Denis Kilkenny of St. Raymond’s.
A very strong Rangers side overcame St. Raymond’s 4-5 to 0-2 in the under-14 contest. Rangers sprayed passes neatly from their back line and midfield to open spaces for their forwards to finish off with some fine moves. Best for the victors were Lorcan Malone, Pat O’Driscoll, Mike Durkin and Mike O’Sullivan. Impressive for a shorthanded St. Raymond’s squad were Shane McDonnell, Kathleen Enright, Sean Brady and Ronan O’Brien. Chris Cassels was Rangers Player of the Match. Steve Greaney earned that honor for St. Raymond’s.
On Sunday in Fairlawn, N.J., St. Barnabas won the U-10 match, beating Celtics 3-6 to 1-5. Players of the Match were Daniel McEneaney of St. Barnabas and Paddy Kyne of Celtics. Outstanding for St. Barnabas were Kevin Chambers, Shane Flanagan, James Hannon, and Dione Norney. Outstanding for Celtics were Paddy Kyne in goals, Brian Curley, Dylon O’Neill, James Smith and Keith Lang.
In U-12 action in New Jersey, it was Celtics 4-7, St. Barnabas 2-5. Players of the Match were Brendan Gugerrier for Celtics and Thomas Neilus for St. Barnabas. Outstanding players for Celtics were Danny Tierney, Kieran Patton, Aisling Smith, Kevin McArdle, and Carl McGovern.
Rockland’s U-16s defeated St. Barnabas 3-8 to 0-4 Sunday at Rockland. Players of the Match were Brendan Fennell of Rockland and Pete Shea of St. Barnabas. Also playing well for the winners were Chris Geoghegan, Billy Cosgrove, Brendan Murphy, Mike Geraghty, and Ed Loniewski. St. Barnabas were best served by Gary Harrison, Jim Neilis, Matt Hannon, Kevin Hannon and Anthony Caltabiano.

The under-18 match saw Rockland emerge winners by a score of 1-6 to 0-2. Rockland’s best were Shaun Dunne, Kieran Murphy, Shane Hogan, Brian Meaney and Chris Keahon. Excelling for St. Barnabas were Andrew Donoghue, Terence Flynn, T.J. Wimmer, Frankie Keenan and Sean Moyles.
Players of the game were Gary Cullinan of St. Barnabas and Sean Murphy of Rockland, for his three excellent frees taken at a critical stage of the game.
