Minor Board Roundup: St. Ray’s U-14s pass Rockland

On Sunday morning at Paddy’s Field, the U-10s St. Raymond’s team used creative passing to beat Rockland, 3-5 to 3-3. John Greaney, Justin Murray, Brendan Creegan, Michael and Stephen Greaney were outstanding for St. Raymond’s. Rockland’s best were Kevin Spellman, Michael Geraghty, Ray Bauder, Billy Cosgrove, Rick Canty and Paul McGrath.

Rockland edged St. Raymond’s, 2-1 to 1-1, in an exciting U-10 football game. Rockland’s best players were Sean McGrath, Mike Prendergast, Dillon Maye, Thomas Carmody and Shane Woods. John Enright, Chris Nolan, Denis Kilkenny, Thomas Huvane, Tim Sullivan and Vincent Tadine tried hard for St. Raymond’s.

Rockland made it two in a row with the U-12s, winning 3-10 to 0-5. Matt Jordan, Conor Hogan, Nick Mangan, Matt Pogewait and Danny O’Malley sealed the win. Trying hard for St. Raymond’s were Kevin Simpson, Stephen Greaney, Chris Hughes, Shane McDonnell, Padraig Galligan and Sean Brady.

On Saturday, Rangers continued on their winning ways with a 1-0 to 0-1 victory over St. Barnabas in the U-10 game. Killian Brady, Pierce Cassels, Anton Ramon, Sean Twomey and Matt Anderson were outstanding for Rangers. They completed the double over St. Barnabas with a 2-3 to 1-4 victory. In the U-12 game Kevin O’Driscoll, Lorcan Malone, Kevin Cullinan and Pat Berna were Rangers best.

In an exciting U-18 contest at Gaelic Park on Sunday, St. Joseph’s got by Celtics 2-8 to 3-2. Inspirational for St. Joseph’s were Rory O’Neill, (0-1), Donal Gillespie, Gerry Gillespie (1-1), Ian Young (1-0), Chris Lambe, Kevin Cassells and Pat Maguire (0-5). Celtics best were Dermot O’Sullivan (0-2), Brendan Egan, Kevin O’Meara, Ryan Sullivan (got a hat trick) 3-0, Matt Sweeney, Jaimie Lally and Peter Kerrigan.
