Minor Board Roundup Tierney leads Celts into U-10 semi

Celtics overcame the Rockland challenge in Rockland on Saturday with a merited 5-3 to 2-4 victory, booking a place in the U-10 League semifinal. Midfielder Daniel Tierney had a superb game, demonstrating that he has few peers at this level. Center half forward Brian Curley, Michael Lang, Eamon Tierney, Anthony Smith and Pat Gormley were outstanding for Celtics. The half-back line of Killian Riley, Conor Creegan and Michael Lang were solid as well, snuffing out many promising Rockland scoring attacks.

Rockland’s best were Patrick Keane, Mike Pendergast, Dillon Maye, Martin Linnane, Pat Troy, Simon Daly and Kevin Rocco.

Celtics: Ryan Patton, David Looney, Anthony Smith, Kevin Liney, Killian Riley, Michael Lang, Conor Creegan, Daniel Tierney, Eamon Tierney, Ryan McCormack, Brian Curley, Pat Gormley, James Tierney, Keith Lang, Paidie Coyne.

Rockland: Evan O’Brien, James Fogerty, Mike Pendergast, Brandon Relihan, Pat Troy, Patrick Keane, Colm Smith, Kevin Rocco, Simon Daly, Michael Keane, Dillon Maye, Thomas Carmody, Conor Moore, Martin Linnane, Kevin Linnane, Tom O’Riordan, Shane Durkin.

In the under-14 semifinal, Rockland are now through to the final with a 3-2 to 1-2 victory over Celtics. From goalkeeper, Pat Scuney to left full forward Anthony Putnick, Rockland were very solid. Particularly effective, Seamus Keane, Glen Roche, Paul McGrath, Caleb Chring, Conor Hogan and Brendan McManus. Catching the eye for Celtics, Ciara McArdle, Ciaran Patton, James Farrelly, Michael McVann, Rory Cregan and Patrick Duffy.
