Minors eye international title

The New York panel that is competing this week in the international minor football championship in County Louth comprises the following players: Niall Duggan, Gary Cullinan, Tommy Williams, and Kevin Coughlan, Rangers; Ray Lennon, Rockland; Gerry Gillespie, Donal Gillespie, Ruairi O’Neill, Eugene Gillespie, and Patrick Maguire, St. Joseph’s; Sean Carbin, Jason Clarke, Adrian Clarke, Kieran Dwyer, Darren Meaney, and Thomas Meaney, St. Barnabas; Dermott O’Sullivan, Kevin Scully, Brendan Egan, Jimmy Woods, and Jamie Lally, Celtics.

The manager is John Clarke, the trainer John Joseph O’Sullivan, and the selectors Pete Jones, Kevin Lennon, John J. O’Sullivan.

On Wednesday evening, July 28, New York play a friendly in Magheracloone, Co. Monaghan. The next day at 11:30 a.m.,, at Cooley Kickhams football grounds, New York play Scotland in Round 1. At 2:30 p.m., their opponents are Lancashire in Round 2. On Friday, New York play Warwickshire at 10:30 a.m.; Kilkenny at 1 p.m. and London at 4 p.m.

On Saturday, the Shield and Cup finals will be played.
