Paul McGinley came apart in the final round of the Dunhill Links Championship in Scotland, falling from co-leadership status at the beginning of Monday’s final round to a ninth-place tie. McGinley was on even terms with Paul Lawrie after 54 holes, but shot 74 on Monday, while Lawrie came in with 68 to post a one-stroke victory over Ernie Els.
McGinley finished at 276 (67-64-71-74). Padraig Harrington tied for fifth place at 275 (67-67-72-69). Darren Clarke shared 24th place at 279 (72-67-70-70).
Euro challenge Tour
Paddy Gribben had another useful outing, this time in the Terme Euganee International Open at the Padova Golf Club in Italy. Gribben shared 12th place with two others who finished 17 under par with a 72-hole total of 271.
Gribben carded rounds of 68, 69, 65 and 69. The third round score was the low of the day, shared with five others. The low round of Sunday’s final round was 64, achieved by Gary Murphy and three others. Murphy preceded that with rounds of 68, 72 and 70 to finish tied for 24th place at 274. Peter Lawrie, at 145 (72-73) for 36 holes, missed the cut by five strokes. Chris Gane’s 265 took the title.

Euro Seniors Tour
Denis O’Sullivan and Eddie Polland tied for 20th place with scores of 215 in the Tunisian Seniors Open at the Port el Kantaoui Golf Club. O’Sullivan carded rounds of 71, 71 and 73 for the 54-hole tourney, while Polland came in with 73, 71 and 71. Behind them were Liam Higgins, who tied for 31st place at 219 (73-74-72), Raymond Kane, who tied for 39th place at 221 (72-75-74), Kenny Stevenson, who shared 43rd place at 222 (73-73-76), and Leonard Owens, who tied for 58th place at 235 (78-80-77). Simon Owen won the championship in a playoff from Bob Lendzion after both finished at 208.

John Kernohan finished in 61st place at the Shreveport Open at the Southern Trace Country Club in Louisiana. He shot 287 (73-69-70-75) for earnings of $1,254. Keith Nolan took 68th place with 290 (72-68-74-76). His check came to $1,105. Bryan Omelia missed the cut, set at 142, by eight strokes. He shot 150 (73-77). Pat Bates won the tournament, shooting 268.
PGA Tour
Richard Coughlan missed the cut in the National Car Rental Classic at Walt Disney World. His 142 (71-71) missed the cut by three strokes.
Q-Sschool
Sean Quinlivan and Chris Devlin failed to advance past the first stage of the PGA Tour’s qualifying tournament, held at TPC at Tampa Bay in Lutz, Fla. The top 22, who shot 287 or lower, move on to nest month’s second stage. Quinlivan shot 292 (73-71-70-78), while Devlin carded 301 (73-73-76-79).
