Munster, Ulster walk into final

February 16, 2011

By Staff Reporter

In any event, Munster and Ulster are scheduled for Sunday at 4 p.m., after the replayed senior hurling final.
The first match on the schedule is something of an oddity as the New York ladies’ football selection takes on the men’s over 40s at 12:30 p.m. No word yet on whether Billie Jean King will be on hand.

HURLING REPLAY
Both teams had their chances in the first exciting match and it looks like a toss up for the replay. Tipperary dominated the first half and showed a lot of heart to come back with a late charge in the second extra period. Likewise Connecticut appeared down for the count at halftime and needed two late points to draw level at the end of regulation.
Picking a winner in this match is something of a crapshoot, but Tipperary have a more consistent free taker in Trevor Fletcher and more scoring options. Connecticut missed a lot of frees, with Bonnie Kennedy sidelined, and most of their scoring came from Dennis Byrne and Michael Jacobs.
Tipperary have more weapons and for that reason they just might squeeze through.
