Nationalists oppose British form of truth commission

Although London has ordered inquiries into three other cases of alleged collusion with paramilitaries, it is still strongly resisting demands for an inquiry into the Finucane case.
Some argue that this is because state collusion in his murder was more systematic and approved at a higher political level than that suspected in the other three cases, of Rosemary Nelson, Robert Hamill and Billy Wright.
A truth commission, such as that envisaged by the British government, would shift the focus from the alleged wrongdoings of state authorities onto those committed by paramilitary groups during the last 35 years.
