As Guinness prepares to celebrate Irish culture with its Guinness Fleadh events in New York, Chicago and the San Francisco Bay area, the company has announced the creation of a mobile outdoor state-of-the-art draft system that, it says, will guarantee perfect pints to festival-goers.
The Guinness Gig Rigs are the creation of Guinness Draught Manager Cian Hickey and his team of draft specialists.
“They are perhaps the most advanced temporary beer dispensing system ever created,” said Howard Pulchin, Guinness’ director of corporate communications, Guinness Import Company.
The rigs comprise four trucks, two 48-foot trailers and two 40-foot trailers. Together, they feature 2,092 individually engineered connections and 10.3 miles of beer lines which supply 300 taps at the four main Guinness serving stations. Each rig also has an auxiliary trailer, which houses additional kegs of Guinness, Harp Lager and Kaliber non-alcoholic brew.
Other custom aspects of the Gig Rigs include special hand trolleys that have been designed to assist workers in rotating the kegs to minimize movement of the beer. Each Gig Rig is also equipped with special high-tech gas systems that allow for easy adjustment of gas mixes for GIC products.
“The beauty of this system is its complete flexibility, mobility and ease of installation and take-down,” said Hickey.
