In his second pronouncement, the singer said that he will dedicate his life to helping the poor and disenfranchised around the world.
“[We can be] the first generation to eradicate extreme poverty,” he told the BBC. “I want to spend the rest of my life doing that.”
But don’t panic, kids – the singer isn’t giving up his day job anytime soon. He says it still feels great to be a member of U2. He also noted that, when he started mixing it up with political leaders, they looked at him as though he were “some sort of exotic plant.”

(Obviously, you don’t get to be a rock star by spending all your time reading Shakespeare.) “[Then we found] out that David Beckham had already chosen it. So we apologize to the Beckhams for that.”
Louis Walsh’s current pop band, Girls Aloud, will have a chance to combine two of their favorite activities – posing for pictures and shopping – thanks to a lucrative business deal.
The teen singers recently signed up to represent the British clothing chain New Look, a deal that will earn them plenty of shopping money (
