New & Noteworthy: Charlize puckers up

Later, the “Monster” actress, who is engaged to Irish hottie Stuart Townsend, blamed her, um, effusiveness on a combination of hero worship, and the effects of the painkillers she was taking for a neck injury. But the South African star was unapologetic.
“It was a combination of my painkillers and the fact that everybody was paying tribute to this incredible woman,” Charlize told World Entertainment News Network. “So I had to go to the physical aspect of kissing her [bum].” Which begs the question, does she kiss Stuart with that mouth?
For her part, MacLaine was unfazed by the unusual accolade. After all, a girl who used to run with Frank Sinatra and the rest of the Rat Pack is probably unshockable. Plus, she thinks Charlize is a hoot. “I’ve gotta get to know her,” MacLaine told reporters. “I should get drunk with her.”

A ‘Thriller’ for Westlife?
Now that Michael Jackson’s legal troubles seem to be behind him, legions of pop stars – Mariah Carey, Jay Z, etc. – are lining up to record with the faded King of Pop. This week, London’s Sun newspaper reports that Westlife manager Louis Walsh has approached the Jackson camp in hopes of setting up a collaboration between the two acts.

“He really inspired Shane when he was a kid,” confided Walsh.
“He wanted to be Michael Jackson,” added Louis, to, one can only assume, Shane’s eternal mortification. One can only assume that there’s a snap in the Filan family album featuring wee Shane moonwalking in sunglasses and a sparkle glove.
“The boys have sung with Diana Ross and Mariah Carey on their new album,” said Louis. “So we thought: ‘Who next?'”
“We are approaching [Jackson],” Walsh confirmed. “It’s the music that matters – and he’s an inspiration.”

True Brit . . .
New mom Britney Spears might be up to her ears in baby formula (not to mention baby poop) at the moment, but she still found time to spare a thought for her fellow Louisianans in their time of crisis. The pop star donated $1 million to the Red Cross Hurricane Katrina relief fund, and has posted a prayer on her official web site.
In more Britney news, the singer’s father has revealed just what it is that little boys are made of. According to ananova.com, the elder Spears, who runs a caf
