New & Noteworthy- Colin?s costar comes clean concerning cut

?I was at those test screenings where women allegedly burst into tears and men hid their faces in shame,? he told the San Francisco Chronicle. ?And I never saw anything like that.?
Roberts, who plays Farrell?s love interest in the film, admits that there was some audience reaction, but attributes it to Colin?s enormous star power.
?For a second, they thought, ?Oh, look, there?s a movie star?s ying yang,?? he said. ?There may have been a couple of guffaws, but there wasn?t any gasping or dropping to one?s knees.?
Are we all clear on this?
In more Farrell news, the actor has revealed his mother has a new hobby that is keeping her very busy. Mrs. Farrell keeps a scrapbook of newspaper clippings about her son. But the stories that she saves for posterity aren?t just the flattering puff pieces; she also collects the craziest, wildest and most inaccurate tales she can find.
?She?s kind of carried the same amount of pride all her life, regardless of what I?ve done or what positions I?ve got myself in,? he told www.iol.ie.
?She?s that strong. She files half the [stuff] she reads about me in a [rhymes with ?trucking?] scrapbook!? Which, given Colin?s, um, active lifestyle, means she?s gotta be up to volume 12. At least.

Brosnan?s not dying to live another day
After months of half-hearted negotiations with the producers of the ?James Bond? film franchise, current star Pierce Brosnan has decided to hang up his tuxedo, put down the shaken martini and walk away from the baccarat table. In other words, the actor has announced that he is retiring from Her Majesty?s secret Service.
?Bond is another lifetime behind me,? Pierce told Entertainment Weekly magazine.
It?s been an open secret for months that Pierce was more than willing to extend his contract to star in the next Bond film ? but the producers have been ominously silent on the subject. The problem seems to be that, at 52, the filmmakers feel that the Irish actor is a little too old to be jumping out of airplanes onto a runaway jet ski, or whatever. Unnamed sources have been floating a list of possible replacements, featuring the names of every handsome male star under the age of 40. Popular choices include Hugh Jackman, Jude Law, Colin Farrell, Hugh Grant, Ewan McGregor and Heath Ledger. Some European newspapers have reported that hunky ?Troy? star Eric Bana would be trading his toga for a tux, but his people are denying this.
Whoever winds up flirting with Miss Moneypenny in the next installment, odds are it won?t be Pierce.
?We went out on a high,? Pierce said, referring to the last movie, ?Die Another Day,? which costarred Halle Berry and her orange bikini. ?I look back affectionately on that time and doing those four movies.?
The actor said he?s not planning to exchange any more dialogue with the filmmakers.
?I?ve said all I?ve got to say on it,? he growled.
But of course, that?s not my last word on the subject. Another ?Troy? star is in the running to play the super sleuth ? back when he was just a fledgling spy.
Teen idol Orlando Bloom has signed on to star in a movie about Bond?s college years. The Evening Standard reports that the Miramax film will focus on Bond?s exploits after he was, er, dis-invited to continue his studies at Eton.

Briefings
Irish film news: director Andrew Baird is contemplating a move to Hollywood to helm ?A Plague of Spiders.? And ?The Crying Game? director Neil Jordan will begin shooting ?Breakfast on Pluto,? starring Liam Neeson and Cillian Murphy, in Ireland next month. And finally, Enniskillen-born Ciar
