New & Noteworthy: Crowe flies off the handle . . .

February 16, 2011

The most recent object of his ire was Russell’s own bodyguard, Mark Carroll. The two were at a party with the cast and crew of Crowe’s movie “The Cinderella Man,” where the guard noticed his boss in deep conversation with a pretty cast member. Fearing that the exchange would spark rumors, Carroll had a word in Crowe’s ear. Apparently, it was the wrong word. Fists flew.
“I thought he was accusing me specifically of something, and I took offense,” Crowe said afterward.
After a good old barney which involved attempted smothering and chest nipping (don’t ask), tempers cooled and the boys made up. Or, as Russell put it, “[We] called each other a few ripe names, had a hug and got on with the job.”
