But his spokesman says that neither cancer nor demons nor evil spells will keep the veteran screen star from reprising his role as Professor Dubledore in the upcoming Harry Potter three-quel, “The Prisoner of Azkaban.”
Harris was diagnosed with the lymphatic system cancer two months ago, after checking into a hospital with a severe chest infection. He is said to be responding well to treatment.
“He should be out of hospital soon,” his agent told reporters. “He absolutely will be in ‘Harry Potter,’ [which] is not due to start until March.”
Harris is scheduled to play Dumbledore, the head of the Hogwarts School, in all seven of the planned movies. Which is fine for him, tough old bird that he is (that hell-raiser title is by no means honorary), but producers might want to speed things up, or little Harry will be drawing a pension before he becomes an official wizard.
