Producers decided to have the Irish countryside act as a stand in for World War II-era Scotland, thanks to tax incentives that make Ireland a cost-effective shooting location. The film plot follows the adventures of everyone?s favorite collie as hard times compel her owners to sell her to an evil aristocrat. Of course, the dog, who?s obviously so smart that she probably negotiated her back-end profit percentage without using an agent, decides to ditch the duke and get back to the poor but honest folk in time for Christmas. One might say that the plot goes to the dogs ? plural ? since there are three purebreds sharing the role of Lassie. But that would be too clich
