New & Noteworthy: Samantha: all grown up

“People are thinking, ‘Oh, you’re really changing your image,” she told the Irish Star newspaper recently. “But when I had my first album out, I was a hell of a lot younger. I’m 19 now. For any teenager, that’s a big growth period.”
Sam’s new found maturity helps her handle the racier lyrics on her new CD.
“Some of the lyrics I’m singing now I wouldn’t have been comfortable singing when I was [younger],” she said. “I’d have been giggling and embarrassed.”
In more Samantha news, we hear that the thing she most misses about home is a big jayzin’ fry-up. The singer says her sympathetic mother tried mailing her some love — in the form of Irish rashers — recently, but the package was confiscated by customs officials.
“I was gutted!” she admitted.
But life is swimming along just fine in Los Angeles for the singer/actress. In fact, she’s making new friends.
“I did go to Christina Aguilera’s party,” she said. “Tobey Maguire was there, and Robbie [Williams], and a few of the Backstreet Boys.” Gosh, it sounds like maybe they’ll all head off to the malt shop, too.
