Claribel Delgado of Broome Street in Manhattan was arrested after her Continental Airlines flight touched down in Shannon on Monday.
Ennis District Court heard that two hours before touchdown Delgado became extremely aggressive and violent. Flight attendants told the court that the passenger started kicking the seat in front of her and swore at them. She then threw a glass of water at one attendant and punched another on the shoulder as they tried to calm her, witnesses testified.
Delgado was eventually restrained using foot restraints, but by then her behavior had upset passengers around her.
In her defense, the court heard that Delgado is terrified of flying and had had three glasses of wine before the flight to calm her nerves and a further four on the flight.
She pleaded guilty to assault and engaging in offensive behavior and added that she had little memory of the incident and apologized to the crew.
