No bailout

In recent weeks we have witnessed a number of major daily newspapers either turning to exclusively web-based publication, or going out of business altogether.
It has been interesting, and more than a little troubling, to note the relative lack, not just of debate and argument over the perilous state of the newspaper industry, but also the sharp contrast between the spending of hundreds of billions of dollars of public money in bailing out some industries, and the absolute absence of same with regard to others, not least newspapers and the jobs they provide.
