Obama’s historic win

February 17, 2011

By Staff Reporter

Obama’s victory was achieved courtesy of victories in key battleground states such as Ohio, Florida and Virginia. His Democratic Party achieved significant gains in both the Senate and the House of Representatives.
Senator Joe Biden of Deleware will be the new vice-president, the first Catholic to hold the post.
Biden, who is a native of Pennsylvania, defines himself as Irish-American. The president-elect also has roots in Ireland, specifically the small town of Moneygall, Co. Offaly.
