Off the Field Annual GAA banquet at New Rochelle club

The New York GAA will hold their 65th annual banquet on Saturday, Feb. 13, at the Surf Club, 280 Davenport Ave., New Rochelle. The guest of honor will be Terry Connaughton. Cocktail hour will start at 8 p.m., followed by a full dinner. Music will be provided by Brogue. Tickets cost $65.

To get to the Surf Club from NYC, take I95 north the Exit 16. Follow signs to North Avenue. Turn left onto North. Turn right onto Pelham Road. Go the first light and turn left onto Church Street. Turn right onto Davenport Avenue.

Limerick celebration

The Limerick Hurling Club and the Limerick Association of New York will hold a victory celebration and dinner dance on Feb. 27 in the Royal Regency Hotel, 165 Tuckahoe Rd., Yonkers. Cocktails from 8- 9 p.m. Music will be provided by Brogue. The guest of honor will be Maurice Foley and the Hurler of the Year award will go to Finbar Flood. The Rangers’ Football Club will hold its annual dance in Gaelic Park on Feb. 27. There will be a hot and cold buffet catered by Morley’s, with open bar. Music will be by Joey Moran and his band.

Guest of honor will be Old Parish, Co. Waterford, native Teresa Cassels. She lives in Yonkers. Player of the Year is Dave Phelan, from Ballymacarbry, Co. Waterford.

The club won U-10, U-16, U-18 and U-21 championships in 1998. Presentation of trophies will be a big part of the evening.

Fermanagh dinner dance

The Fermanagh Gaelic Football Club will hold their annual dinner dance on Saturday, March 6, in Greentree Country Club, New Rochelle. Guest of Honor is Belleek native and club PRO Sheila Denning, Clubperson of the Year is Nollaig Cleary, the club secretary. Music by Crisis. Kilkenny celebration

The Kilkenny Association of New York and the Kilkenny Hurling Club of New York host the Kilkenny St. Patrick’s Day festival dance on March 13 in the Greentree Country Club, 538 Davenport Ave., New Rochelle. Festivities start at 8 p.m. with a cocktail hour. A full-course dinner (choice of three menus) will follow at 9:15 p.m. Music will be provided by Rumor Has It. Tickets cost $60 each. Sligo dance

The Sligo Association of New York will hold its annual St. Patrick’s dinner dance on March 13 at 8 p.m. in Leonard’s of Great Neck, N.Y.

The guest of honor will be band leader Joe Nellany, while the Sligo Person of the Year Award will be presented to Bridie O’Reilly.

Lansdowne rugby

The Lansdowne Rugby Football Club will hold their third annual St. Patrick’s Day Rugby Tournament on Saturday, March 13, at Van Cortlandt Park, at 251st Street, in the Bronx.

The last two years have seen as many as 25 teams New York, New Jersey, Connecticut and Massachusetts, competing in Premiere, Club and Social brackets. The tournament begins at 9 a.m. and runs until mid-afternoon, with the nearby Lansdowne Bar hosting the traditional post-game socializing.
