Off the Field Cavan to hold Cassidy tournament

The Cavan Football Club will hold the annual John Joe Cassidy Memorial 7-A-Side Tournament on Sunday, March 26, in Van Cortlandt Park. Sixteen teams will be allowed into the tournament. Stamford FC dance

Sligo honors for Marren

John Marren, president of the Sligo Football Club of New York, will be the guest of honor at the Sligo Association’s annual St. Patrick’s dinner dance on March 11 at 8 p.m. in Leonard’s of Great Neck.

The Sligo Person of the Year is Raymond Conlon.

Marren is a native of Curry, Co. Sligo and has been involved in the GAA all his life, in Ireland and during his time in London before coming to the U.S. in 1963.

Conlon, a native of Gleann, Co. Sligo, is a long-time member and former president of the Sligo Association. Details, Patrick McGettrick at (718) 518-9891.

Kilkenny dance

Kilkenny Hurling Club and the Kilkenny Association of New York will host their annual St. Patrick’s dinner dance on March 11 at Green Tree Country Club in New Rochelle.

The guest of honor will be Dick Lyons and the clubman of the year award will go to Kevin Corbett.

Music will be supplied by Rumor Has It. Cocktail hour will start at 8 p.m. Tickets cost $65 per person.
