Off the Field Garryowen RFC

Garryowen RFC from Limerick will participate in Kick Off 2000, a round robin tournament in New Brunswick, Saturday and Sunday, Sept. 9 and 10, at New Brunswick’s Memorial Stadium, Joyce Kilmer Avenue. Matches start 10 a.m. Saturday and noon on Sunday. The tournament will include a match against the Rutgers Rugby Club, Tuesday, Sept. 12 at 2 p.m. Details, (732) 745-5004

GAA minor board

The GAA minor board of greater New York will hold its 6th annual fall dance and social on Sept. 16 at 9 p.m. at Gaelic Park Casino, 240th Street and Broadway, in the Bronx. The honorees will be Michael Forde and John Greaney. Dancing by the Michael Sheahan Variety band. Tickets cost $50 each.

Wheelchair competition

The Burke Rehabilitation Hospital will host a wheelchair competition on Friday evening, Sept. 15, and all day Saturday, Sept. 16. Events include a slalom course, javelin, table tennis, shot put, discus, club throw, weight lifting, softball throw and 60- and 1,500-meter races.

Disabled artists

In celebration of National Rehabilitation Awareness Week, the The Burke Rehabilitation Hospital is hosting an art exhibit of disabled artists in September. Disabled artists interested in exhibiting should contact Joanne Auerbach at (914) 597-2248.

Fund-raiser for Derry City

A fund-raiser for Derry City Football Club will take place Oct. 13 in the Shannon Pub, Main Street, Snyder, near Buffalo, N.Y. Music will be provided by the Glengarry Bhoys, Fiona Molloy, Seamus Kennedy and Gerry McCrudden.

The fund-raiser will also include raffles and an auction selling off items from team hats to the original signed manuscript of "The Town I Loved So Well" by Phil Coulter, who is the chairman of the Derry team.
