Off the Field Mayo to honor Seamus Clarke

Mayo Gaelic Football club, New York will hold its annual dinner dance on April 15 at the Polish Center, 92 Waverly St., Yonkers. This year’s guest of honor will be Seamus Clarke from Gortletteragh, Co. Leitrim, co-owner of J.P. Clarkes Saloon on McLean Ave., Yonkers.

The Mayo Gael of the Year Award will be given to Michael Ruane from Moy Davitt’s club. Mike, as he is known in the club was one of the people responsible for reorganizing the club in ’97 and was a member of the Junior team that won the championship that year.

Donegal F.C. Banquet

The Donegal Football Club of New York will celebrate its 52nd Anniversary Banquet on Saturday, April 22, at Leonard’s of Great Neck. Guest of Honor is Paul Timoney of Donegal Town. Tickets available for Ireland-U.S. game

The United States men’s national soccer team will put its undefeated record at Foxboro Stadium on the line when the USA battles Ireland as part of U.S. Cup 2000 on June 6 at 7:30 p.m.

Advance individual ticket prices for the match are 425, $35 and $50 per seat. On the day of game, the tickets will cost $30, $40 and $65 per seat. Discounted tickets for groups are also available.

The U.S. and Ireland have squared off six times, with the U.S. never losing on American soil.

St. Raymond’s GFC

The St. Raymond’s Gaelic Football Club will celebrate its 30th anniversary with a dinner dance on April 15 at 8 p.m. in Rory Dolan’s Restaurant in Yonkers.

Guests of honor are Noel Blanchfield and the club’s original families. the club is also publishing a souvenir journal.
